Missouri’s Kristin Andrighetto, Tasha Dittamore and Kellie Gavigan captured the Big 12 Soccer Players of the Week for games played from Oct. 23-25, the conference office has announced. Andrighetto garnered the accolade for the second time in her career. Dittamore was recognized for the third time this season and the fifth of her career. Gavigan earned the award for the first time.
Offensive Player of the WeekKristin Andrighetto, Missouri, F, Sr., Pleasant Hill, Calif. Andrighetto notched three goals and an assist for seven points in Missouri’s two victories over the weekend to clinch the 2009 Big 12 regular-season title. In Mizzou’s 3-2 win against Iowa State, the senior netted two goals and added an assist. She continued her offensive performance with another goal in the Tigers’ 5-0 win over Nebraska, marking her fourth consecutive game with a point. The 2009 preseason All-Big 12 selection leads Missouri in points (20) and goals (8), which both rank fifth in the Big 12. Andrighetto also ranks second on the Tigers’s career list in goals (35) and fourth in points (89).
Defensive Player of the WeekTasha Dittamore, Missouri, GK, Sr., Granite City, Ill.In Missouri’s two weekend wins, Dittamore made seven saves and gave up just one goal to extend her unbeaten streak to 10 games. She recorded a program-best 17th career shutout against Nebraska. Dittamore held off a Husker offense which was ranked third in the nation in scoring offense and first in the Big 12 in points, goals and assists. The senior goalkeeper ranks third in the league in saves with 73. She also holds the Tigers’ career record for shutouts (17) and victories (34), while ranking second in goals against average (1.06).
Newcomer of the WeekKellie Gavigan, Missouri, D, Fr., Libertyville, Ill. Gavigan played in all 180 minutes of action for a Missouri defense that gave up just one goal in two victories over the weekend. She supported a Mizzou backline that allowed just seven shots, including three shots on goal, in the Tigers’ 3-1 win over Iowa State. Gavigan also helped hold the nation’s leading goal-scorer (Morgan Marlborough) and the nation’s third-highest scoring offense, out of the net in MU’s 5-0 shutout against Nebraska. The Tigers’ defense ranks second in the Big 12 in shutouts and third in fewest goals allowed.
