Big 12 Conference Boasts Four Winners of the Academic Momentum Award

Four Big 12 student-athletes have been named winners of the Academic Momentum Award, it was announced.

The Scholar-Baller® Program, in conjunction with the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS), chose the winners from 79 nominations from 50 different colleges and universities across the country. A male winner (two ties) was chosen from all of the NCAS’ 10 regions and a female winner (two ties) was chosen from eight of the NCAS’ 10 regions.

For the women, Aysha Jamani (Nebraska) is a soccer player majoring in business administration, while Clarissa Andrews (Oklahoma State) is a management major on the track and field team. On the men's side, Kirkland Thornton (Nebraska), an economics major and track and field student-athlete, was named as well as Adron Tennell (Oklahoma), a multidisciplinary studies major on the football team.

The NCAS is an ever-growing organization of colleges and universities that provides opportunities for current and former student-athletes to continue their pursuit of higher education, while working in the community with children to address social issues.
