Baylor Leads Big 12 in Tennis Preseason Poll

The Baylor men’s and women’s tennis teams lead 13 Big 12 teams in the preseason Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll. 

The BU men’s team was ranked sixth after finishing last season with a Big 12 Championship title and a 26-6 record. They also made a trip to the NCAA Championship quarterfinals.

The women will start at No. 5 after also earning the conference crown a year ago. The Bears completed the 2008-09 campaign at 27-5 after advancing to the semifinals of the NCAA Championship.

All seven Big 12 men’s teams received rankings, including No. 8 Texas, No. 12 Texas A&M, No. 25 Oklahoma State, No. 39 Texas Tech, No. 44 Oklahoma and No. 65 Nebraska.

The Big 12 was also represented in the women’s poll by No. 31 Texas, No. 37 Texas A&M, No. 55 Nebraska, No. 60 Colorado and No. 73 Texas Tech.

Big 12 tennis action starts on Jan. 16.
