Maria Huggins Hired As Championships Manager

Maria Huggins has been named Championships Manager for the Big 12 Conference, Commissioner Dan Beebe announced. She joins the staff after serving as Event Manager at the St. Louis Sports Commission.

In her new role at the Big 12, Huggins will coordinate services for regular-season and championship administration for 19 Olympic sports and work with various coaches groups on a daily basis. She will oversee the conference’s awards and signage programs and work on site at selected championship events, including duties as assistant championship director for the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship. She will also assist with the Big 12 partnership with Special Olympics.

During her time in St. Louis, Huggins was an operational and logistical coordinator for Sports Commission events and programs. She helped to manage numerous events, including several NCAA Championships hosted in the city over the past several years.

Huggins earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Educational Studies from the University of Missouri. During her undergraduate years, she worked as an assistant in the Mizzou football offices.

She will begin her new role at the Big 12 on September 7.
