Four Teams Ranked In Preseason Top 25

Coming off a season in which a nation’s-best seven Big 12 men’s basketball teams earned NCAA bids, four league squads are ranked in the 2014-15 USA Today coaches’ preseason poll. No. 5 Kansas leads the way, followed by No. 10 Texas, No. 14 Iowa State and No. 19 Oklahoma. The four Big 12 teams in the top 20 are tied for the most of any conference in the country.

In addition to those four teams, Kansas State and Baylor also received votes in the first poll of the 2014-15 campaign. The Big 12 has had at least one team ranked in every week in league history since the conference began play in 1996-97, a span of 347 consecutive weeks. A year ago, seven Big 12 squads were ranked in the top 25. Despite having just 10 members, the Big 12 had more total teams nationally-ranked than any other conference. Nine of 10 teams in the league have been ranked in a top 25 poll at least once since 2010.

Nine conference teams begin the season on Friday, November 14, with all nine hosting home contests.
