Nine top men’s basketball student-athletes from the Big 12 have been recognized on the Naismith Trophy Men’s 50 Watch List, the Atlanta Tipoff Club has announced. The total is tied for the most of any conference in the nation (ACC).

Kansas is one of four schools with three student-athletes listed among the 50-member list – Cliff Alexander, Perry Ellis and Wayne Selden, Jr. Six different league squads were represented on the list.

The watch list will be cut down to a midseason 30 on Feb. 12, 2015, with the 10 semifinalists for the Naismith Award announced on March 6. Four semifinalists will be named on March 22 with the winner announced on April 5.

Previous Naismith Trophy winners from the Big 12 include Blake Griffin of Oklahoma (2008-09) along with Kevin Durant (2006-07) and T.J. Ford (2002-03) from Texas.
