Scoring Story
There were 12 rushing touchdowns scored Saturday; six were scored on 1-yard runs and the average length of the scoring runs was five yards. There were 11 touchdown passes that averaged 33.8 yards in length. There was a defensive touchdown, a 44-yard pass interception return, and a special teams touchdown, a 92-yard punt return.
Baylor (11-1, 8-1; defeated Kansas State, 38-27; vs. Michigan State in Cotton Bowl)
Quarterback Bryce Petty completed a career-high 34 passes on the way to throwing for 412 yards.
Wide receiver Levi Norwood tied his career high with seven receptions and has a streak of 35 games with at least one reception.
Freshman kicker Chris Callahan made a career-long 46-yard field goal on the last play of the first half and has made 15 of his last 16 attempts.
Baylor has won 16 straight home games, which ties Alabama for the nation's longest active streak. Baylor has the nation's best home record since 2011 at 25-1.
Baylor has won conference titles in consecutive seasons for the first time in school history.
Iowa State (2-10, 0-9; lost to TCU, 55-3; season complete)
Junior quarterback Sam B. Richardson finished with 254 completions, the most for a season in school history.
Freshman receiver Allen Lazard had 45 receptions for 593 yards, the second-most in both categories for an Iowa State freshman. He also caught a pass in all 12 games.
Kicker Cole Netten made all 35 of extra points, the most in school history without a miss.
The Dec. 6 game date matched the latest game in school history (1930, at Rice).
Kansas (3-9, 1-8; did not play; season complete)
The Jayhawks and new coach David Beaty are scheduled to open the 2015 season at home against South Dakota State on Sept. 5.
Kansas State (9-3, 7-2; lost at Baylor, 38-27; vs. UCLA in Alamo Bowl)
Quarterback Jake Waters has a school-record 3,634 yards in total offense.
Senior wide receiver Tyler Lockett had a career-high 14 receptions for 158 yards and one touchdown. That TD gave him the school career record at 27, breaking a tie with his father Kevin.
Freshman kicker Matthew McCrane made field goals of 24 and 47 yards. He has made all eight of his attempts from 30 or more yards.
Tight end Zach Trujillo had three receptions for a career-high 88 yards.
Oklahoma (8-4, 5-4; lost to Oklahoma State, 38-35, in overtime; vs. Clemson in Russell Athletic Bowl)
Freshman running back Samaje Perine gained 791 yards over the last three games, the best three-game stretch in school history. He has 21 rushing touchdowns and is the fifth OU players with 20 or more rushing TDs.
Fullback Aaron Ripkowski had two rushing touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass. Of his 13 touches this season 10 have resulted in either a touchdown or first down.
Running back Keith Ford had career bests for rushing attempt (56 yards) and in rushing yards (91).
Oklahoma led 28-14 at halftime and the loss ended a streak of 48 consecutive games won by the Sooners when leading at halftime.
Oklahoma State (6-6, 4-5; defeated Oklahoma, 38-35, in overtime; vs. Washington in Cactus Bowl)
Junior Tyreek Hill's 92-yard punt return in the fourth quarter was second longest punt return in school history and his third special teams touchdown of the season.
Receiver Brandon Sheperd had seven receptions for a career high 156 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
Oklahoma State is bowl eligible for a school-record ninth straight year.
Oklahoma State won in Norman for the first time since a 16-13 decision in 2001.
TCU (11-1, 8-1; defeated Iowa State, 55-3; vs. Ole Miss in Peach Bowl)
Trevone Boykin threw for four touchdowns, setting the school single-season record with 30 TD passes. His 559 yards of total offense (a career-high 460 passing, 55 receiving, 44 rushing) was the second-best single-game total in TCU history, trailing only Matt Vogler's 696 versus Houston in 1990.
Jaden Oberkrom has made his last 13 field goal attempts, the second-longest in school history. His 58 career field goals are second in school history (65 by Nick Browne).
TCU won its sixth conference championship, in three different leagues, under head coach Gary Patterson. It's the eighth time under Patterson the Frogs have won 11 games.
TCU extended its nation's-best streaks to 14 consecutive games with at least one sack and one interception and scoring at least 30 points.
Texas (6-6, 5-4; did not play; vs. Arkansas in AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl)
This will be the 78th meeting between the Longhorns (6-6, 5-4) and the Razorbacks (6-6, 2-6), including the second time in the postseason. Arkansas beat Texas, 27-6, in the 2000 Cotton Bowl, though the Longhorns lead the series 56-21. The last meeting between the teams was a 52-10 Texas victory on Sept. 27, 2008.
Texas Tech (4-8, 2-7; did not play; season complete)
The Red Raiders are scheduled to open the 2015 season on Sept. 5 at home against Sam Houston State.
West Virginia (7-5, 5-4; did not play; vs. Texas A&M in Liberty Bowl)
The two schools have never played but both coaches are familiar with each other. Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin and West Virginia's Dana Holgorsen coached together at Houston. Sumlin was a head coach and Holgorsen was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Holgorsen left Houston to become the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State and was then named the head coach at West Virginia.
