The junior forward started the week with 13 points in 22 minutes versus the Cardinals. He then had 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting with a career-high tying eight assists as ISU beat the Razorbacks in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. BIG 12 NEWCOMERS OF THE WEEK
Lester Medford, Baylor, G, Jr., 5-10, 175, Tucson, Ariz./Indian Hills CC [Iowa]
Medford stepped in as the starting point guard with Kenny Chery out and led the Bears to a 2-0 week. The junior guard totaled 20 points in two contests while dishing out 15 assists with just one turnover. In the Baylor win at Vanderbilt in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge, Medford finished with seven points, seven assists, six rebounds, three steals and one turnover in 35 minutes. He followed that performance with a season-high 27 points on 8-of-8 shooting, the best field goal percentage by any Big 12 player this season. For the week, he shot 68.4 percent and made 5-of-10 from 3-point range, while converting 8-of-9 (.889) from the free throw line. He ranks among the top 10 in the Big 12 in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, assists and steals.
