Williams, Hickey Capture Men?s Basketball Honors

Nino Williams of K-State and Anthony Hickey of Oklahoma State are this week’s recipients of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player and Newcomer of the Week. Both player are honored for the first time in their careers.

BIG 12 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Nino Williams, Kansas State, F, Sr., 6-5, 220, St. Louis, Mo./Leavenworth [Kan.]
Williams helped K-State to a pair of wins last week, nearly averaging a double-double with 17.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per contest. The senior forward collected his second career double-double with team highs of 14 points and 12 rebounds versus Bradley. He then tied his career-best with 20 points against Savannah State, adding seven boards. Williams 56.3 percent from the field on the week and converted 16-of-18 (.889) from the free throw line. He has scored in double digits in each of his last four outings.

BIG 12 NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Anthony Hickey, Oklahoma State, G, Sr., 5-11, 185, Hopkinsville, Ky./Christian County/LSU
Hickey led the Cowboys to their first road win of the season as Oklahoma State won at Memphis to improve to 8-1. The senior guard finished with a season-high 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range. He also had six assists, five rebounds and five steals in 32 minutes of action. The steals total was also a high for this year, as Hickey has eight thefts in his last two contests and at least one in all but one game this season.
