Iowa State To Host ESPN College GameDay

ESPN and the Big 12 Conference have announced that Iowa State University will host ESPN College GameDay Covered by State Farm on Saturday, January 17, prior to the Cyclones’ home contest with Kansas. The game will be scheduled for 8:00 p.m. CT.

The selection was made as part of ESPN’s new flexible schedule for the event, being used for the first time this season. Sites are announced the week prior to games. Big 12 schools could be considered for other GameDay hosting duties later in the 2014-15 season.

This marks the first time Iowa State will host ESPN’s signature college basketball pregame show. The first hour begins at 9:00 a.m. CT on ESPNU, continuing at 10:00 a.m. CT on ESPN with an evening edition leading into the Jayhawks at Cyclones matchup.

ISU is the eighth of 10 current Big 12 members to host the signature ESPN event and will also be the eighth team to play in the primetime matchup. The two teams have combined to record a 21-4 mark to start the year and have been ranked in the top 25 every week of the 2014-15 campaign. The Jayhawks have won five of the last six meetings between the schools, with Iowa State winning the last matchup in the semifinals of last year’s Big 12 Championship. Since 2004, five of the meetings between the squads have gone to overtime.

ESPN’s College GameDay Covered by State Farm boasts some new faces this season as analysts Seth Greenberg and Jay Williams join the retuning duo of host Rece Davis and analyst Jay Bilas on the eight-week Saturday morning and evening program that originates from the site of ESPN’s Saturday Primetime Presented by DIRECTV telecast.
