Following multiple matchups against top 25 opponents, Oklahoma’s Buddy Hield and Kelly Oubre, Jr. of Kansas are the latest recipients of the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week. Both student-athletes are recognized for the second time this season and second time in their careers.

BIG 12 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Hield averaged 24.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists as Oklahoma split its two games versus top 25 opponents. The junior guard started the week with a game-high 21 points at No. 16 West Virginia on 6-of-13 (.462) shooting while grabbing a team-best eight rebounds. He then scored a game-high 27 points vs. No. 24 Oklahoma State, with five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Hield was 10-of-10 from the floor in that game, tying the Big 12 single-game field goal percentage record for conference games. He leads the Big 12 in scoring in league play with 22.4 points per game and has scored at least 20 points in four of five conference outings.

BIG 12 NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Kelly Oubre, Jr., Kansas, G, Fr., 6-7, 200, New Orleans, La./Findlay Prep
Oubre posted 12.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as the Jayhawks also split its two matchups with nationally-ranked foes. The freshman guard had 14 points on 3-of-5 (.600) shooting as KU defeated No. 24 OSU. He had a second double-figure scoring effort at No. 11 Iowa State, finishing with 10 points and eight boards. He shot 40.0 percent from the field on the week with five assists and four steals. Oubre has six double-digit scoring performances in 2014-15 and has recorded eight outings with five or more rebounds.
