Junior forward Ryan Spangler (Oklahoma) and senior guard Bryce Dejean-Jones (Iowa State) have been named the first winners of Phillips 66 Big 12 Player and Newcomer of the Week for February. Spangler garners his third weekly accolade after being named top newcomer twice last year. Dejean-Jones is recognized for the third time in 2014-15.

Spangler averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists as the Sooners posted wins over Texas Tech (81-36) and at Oklahoma State (64-56). The junior forward had a season-high 20 points in just 25 minutes versus Tech, before adding 13 points against OSU as Oklahoma swept the Bedlam series for the second straight year. He made 11-of-14 (.786) shots from the field while connecting on 10-of-13 (.769) from the line. Spangler has scored in double figures in each of his last six games and ranks second in the Big 12 in field goal percentage (.583). He had been averaging 9.7 points entering the week.

BIG 12 NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Bryce Dejean-Jones, Iowa State, G, Sr., 6-5, 210, Los Angeles, Calif./Taft/UNLV
Dejean-Jones led the Cyclones to wins over Texas (89-86) and TCU (83-66) by recording 17.0 points per game. The senior guard connected on nearly every shot, making 10-of-13 (.769) from the field, including his lone 3-point attempt. He had 18 points versus the Longhorns before following with 16 against the Horned Frogs and has been in double figures in four of his last six outings. Dejean-Jones was 13-of-17 (.765) from the line, with 11 rebounds and five assists and leads the Cyclones in boards this year with 5.8 per game.
