TCU reliever Riley Ferrell leads a pack of Big 12 baseball student-athletes who have garnered preseason award recognition heading into the start of the 2015 campaign.
Ferrell, who set the TCU school record with 15 saves last season, earned Preseason All-America First Team nods from five publications as well as the Preseason Player of the Year selection from Collegiate Baseball.
Teammate and fellow pitcher Preston Morrison earned four preseason recognitions. Morrison returns to TCU for his senior season after earning the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year in 2014. He is the only hurler to lead the Big 12 in ERA in consecutive seasons. Texas Tech’s Eric Gutierrez also earned four preseason honors, while sophomores Shelden Neuse (Oklahoma) and Alex Young (TCU) have also been recognized this preseason.
The 2015 Big 12 baseball season begins on February 13, with conference play opening the weekend of March 13.
