Niang A Finalist For The Oscar Robertson Trophy

Iowa State junior forward Georges Niang has been named a finalist for the 2015 Oscar Robertson Trophy.

The list is comprised of the nation’s standout players and leading contenders to be named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association All-America Team.  Niang is one of only 14 candidates to be named to list and one of six juniors to be nominated for the award.

A native of Methuen, Massachusetts, Niang has proven himself as a dominant force in college basketball.  He is averaging 14.6 points and 5.4 rebounds this season. His scoring average puts him at fourth in the Big 12.

Niang is the nation’s only junior with 1,300 points, 450 rebounds and 275 assists in their career.

The award will be presented at the Devon Energy College Basketball Awards on April 14 in Oklahoma City at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
