Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas and Texas Tech all remain ranked for the sixth straight week. TCU sits as high as No. 4, while Texas is as high as 10th, Oklahoma State 12th and Texas Tech at 17th.
This weekend will mark the third week of conference play with three series on tap. The Big 12 also has 18 non-conference games this week and is 103-69 in non-conference action thus far.
After a 2-1 series win at TCU this past weeked, Oklahoma State has won eight straight conference series dating back to 2014. The only series the Cowboys lost a year ago was their Big 12 opener against Baylor. Oklahoma State has won nine of its last 11 contests on the year.
After a weekend sweep of K-State at home, Texas sits atop the Big 12 standings with a 5-1 mark. While UT has eight overall losses on the year, six of those have been by two runs or less. Texas has lost by more than three runs just once on the season.
Kansas is the lone Big 12 team yet to play a league game, but the Jayhawks will open their conference season at TTU this weekend. KU holds a nine-game conference win streak after sweeping its final three Big 12 series to close out 2014. The streak is tied for the sixth longest in conference history. On the flip side, Tech finished 2014 winning its final nine home Big 12 games.
TCU’s Evan Skoug owns the conference’s longest hitting streak on the season at 18 contests (active).
Texas’ Ben Johnson leads the league with 14 multi-hit games. He is also among the nation’s best in hits, ranking fifth overall. Additionally, he leads the league in triples, total bases, and slugging percentage.
TCU (5), Oklahoma State (4) and Texas Tech (4) are among 18 teams nationally with four or more shutouts this season.
Texas Tech’s Corey Taylor has a 0.00 ERA in 24.2 innings pitched in relief this season (10 appearances). He is the only pitcher in the nation who has yet to allow a run on the year.
TCU leads the nation with a 1.77 ERA and is one of two schools that ranks in the top 10 nationally in ERA and fielding percentage (8th).
