First Two Conference Games on the Week 4 Schedule

The first two conference games of the season are on the week 4 schedule as Oklahoma State travels to Texas and Texas Tech hosts TCU. Three teams conclude non-conference action while three others have a bye. The TTU vs. TCU matchup will feature the nation’s No. 3 (54.3) and No. 10-ranked (49.7) scoring offenses.

The Big 12 has picked up a road win over a power five conference opponent in each of the first three weeks of the season. The Big 10 is the only other conference with three.

The Big 12 is the only league in which 70 percent of its teams are undefeated.

Sixty percent of Big 12 teams are in the top 25 of the Sagarin ratings - 8. Baylor, 13. TCU, 14. Oklahoma, 16. West Virginia, 22. K-State and 25. Oklahoma State.

The Big 12 is the lone league averaging over 500 yards of total offense (500.93) and over 300 yards passing (306.04). The Conference also leads in scoring average (40.44).

The Big 12 has three of the nation’s top five offenses and six in the top 24 - 1. Baylor (754.0), 4. TCU (598.7), 5. Texas Tech (590.3), 14. Oklahoma (553.3), 19. West Virginia (514.5) and 24. Oklahoma State (508.7). No other league has more than four in the top 24.

The same six squads are in the top 23 of scoring offense - 2. Baylor (61.0), 3. Texas Tech (54.3), 10. TCU (49.7), 19. West Virginia (42.5), 20. Oklahoma State (41.7) and 23. Oklahoma (41.3).

Three Big 12 teams are in the top 10 for scoring defense, allowing an average of 12-or-less points an outing - 3. West Virginia (8.5), 8. Oklahoma State (11.7) and 10. K-State (12.0).

Including past and future FBS opposition, Texas and Iowa State are listed as the top two teams in the NCAA’s toughest schedule report. Five other teams are in the top 21 - T12. Kansas, TCU and West Virginia; 18. Oklahoma and 21. Baylor.

Four Big 12 quarterbacks are in the top six and six are in the top 22 in total offense - 2. Baker Mayfield, OU (400.3), 3. Seth Russell, BU (391.0), 4. Patrick Mahomes, TTU (386.0), 6. Trevone Boykin, TCU (377.7), 11. Skylar Howard, WVU (348.5) and 22. Mason Rudolph, OSU (315.7). Only Boykin was the regular starter for his team last season.

The Big 12 has two of the top five ranked teams in national polls. Seventy percent of Conference squads are ranked or received votes.
