2015-16 All-Big 12 Men?s Golf Team Announced

As golfers prepare for the start of regional play beginning May 16-18, the 2015-16 All-Big 12 Men’s Golf Team has been revealed.

The team is chosen by using the 10 highest-ranked players in the Golfweek/Sagarin national rankings released after the Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship. Of those 10 players, the highest-ranked competitor is named the Big 12 Player of the Year. Additionally, the highest-ranked newcomer receives Newcomer of the Year honors.

Texas’s Beau Hossler takes home the Big 12 Player of the Year for the second year in a row thanks to his No. 1 overall national rating. The junior from Mission Viejo, California currently boasts a 68.25 rating over 11 events, as well as an impressive 47-15-5 record versus top 25 ranked golfers. Hossler’s strong junior campaign has him as a finalist for the Ben Hogan Award, given to the nation’s top college golfer. Hossler was also named the 2014 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.

Freshman of the Year honors go to Oklahoma State’s Zach Bauchou, who currently sits with a 71.21 rating. The freshman from Forest, Virginia competed in seven events in the 2015-16 season and compiled a 380-122-16 overall record.

Texas Head Coach John Fields earned Big 12 Coach of the Year honors after producing the Longhorns fourth-consecutive Big 12 Championship. It is Fields’ seventh Coach of the Year honor and seventh Big 12 Championship. With Hossler this year, Fields has also produced seven Big 12 Player of the Year award winners.

Joining Hossler on the All-Big 12 Team are: Texas teammates Doug Ghim and Gavin Hall, Jordan Niebrugge (Oklahoma State), Max McGreevy (Oklahoma), Kristoffer Ventura (Oklahoma State), Stratton Nolen (Oklahoma State), Nick Voke (Iowa State). Paul Barjon (TCU) and Brendon Jelley (Oklahoma State).

The Cowboys led the way with four selections overall, Texas posted three, and Iowa State, Oklahoma and TCU each contributed one member. Hossler, Hall, Ghim, Niebrugge and Ventura are all repeat selections from 2015.

Additionally, Niebrugge and Hossler made the team in 2014, and Niebrugge was an All-Big 12 selection in 2013 as well, making him an All-Big 12 member all four of his years at Oklahoma State.
