Sven Lah (Baylor), Anastasia Rychagova (Kansas) and Lisa Marie Rioux (Oklahoma State) were named Big 12 Tennis Players of the Week honorees. This week’s honor marks the fourth all-time, second on the season, for Rychagova, and the first for both Lah and Rioux.
Lah came away with two victories on the road last Saturday in the team’s 5-2 win over No. 34 Tulsa. The Bears clinched the doubles point with No. 2 Lah and Jimmy Bendeck’s 6-1 win. The No. 117 ranked sophomore took care of his singles opponent to improve to 10-1 in dual matches.
For the second time this season, Big 12 Women’s Co-Tennis Players of the Week were named in Rioux and Rychagova.
Rioux garnered Blue Gray Tennis Classic MVP honors after the Cowgirls swept their final day at the event. The Okinawa, Japan, native recorded three dominant singles wins, including an upset over No. 96 Anna Ulyashchenko of Wake Forest, allowing just two points from her opponent in the match.
On the weekend, Rychagova totaled four wins, which attributed to four of the 14 Kansas points. The senior is now undefeated in singles play this spring with eight victories as she went 2-0 in singles at the No. 1 position knocking off No. 81 Tatum Rice along the way.
