Three Big 12 Players Earn AP All-America Honors

Three Big 12 women’s basketball student-athletes picked up Associated Press All-America honors on Monday. Baylor’s Kalani Brown and Iowa State’s Bridget Carleton were named second-team selection, while BU’s Lauren Cox grabbed a third-team honor.

Brown's selection to the AP All-America team is the third of her career after collecting honorable mention honors as a sophomore in 2017, a second-team selection as a junior in 2018 and second-team again as a senior Monday. Thru the NCAA Sweet 16, Brown averages 15.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and shoots 61.1 percent from the floor. Brown will leave Baylor as the program's all-time leader in field goal percentage, she ranks fourth all-time in rebounds and blocks while ranking fifth in double-doubles, field goals made, free throws made and sixth all-time in career points.

Carleton, the 2019 Big 12 Player of the Year, put together one of the finest seasons and careers in the history of Iowa State women's hoops. The senior led the Big 12 in scoring at 21.7, breaking ISU's season point record with 760. She also ranks in the top-five in Iowa State's record book in career field goals (3rd, 713), steals (3rd, 211), blocked shots (3rd, 124) and 3-pointers (5th, 255).

Cox's selection was the third all-America award of her career and second by the AP. She was an honorable mention selection last year as a sophomore and was also a WBCA All-America honorable mention winner last year. The two-time Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year has put up 12.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.5 blocks and a 2.56:1 assists-to-turnover ratio, which leads the Conference.
