Seventy-eight Big 12 Track & Field student-athletes qualified for the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, through regional prelims, set to be held in Austin, Texas, in early June.
Across all the Big 12 Track & Field programs, six student-athletes will participate in multiple individual events, while 11 combined relay teams are set to battle in the 4x100 and the 4x400 for both the men and the women.
Teahna Daniels of Texas qualified for the women’s 100-meter dash with the No. 1 overall time in the West Preliminary this past weekend (10.99), while also earning a place in the 200-meter dash, running the fourth-best time of the west prelims (22.51).
Both Andrew Hudson and Divine Oduduru of the Texas Tech men’s track & field program qualified for the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Their performances during the regional prelims rank them among the top five in both races, including a No. 1 and No. 2 ranking, respectively, in the latter of the two races.
On the men’s side, Oduduru will look to defend his 200-meter dash crown, while Tejaswin Shankar of K-State, his high jump title.
Competition is set to begin Wednesday, June 5, and run through Saturday, June 8, at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
