Hurley, Gibson and Pressel Named Big 12 Golfers of the Month

John Hurley (Texas A&M), Alex Gibson (Texas Tech) and Madison Pressel (Texas) have been named Big 12 Golfers of the Month for the month of October, the Conference office announced. This is the first league accolade for all three student-athletes.

MEN
John Hurley, Texas A&M, Jr., O’Neill, Neb.
Hurley took first-place at the Lone Star Invitational with a 10-under-par score of 206 for his first career individual win. His second round score of 64 tied a school record at 8-under-par. Hurley broke par in all three rounds of the tournament and helped the Aggies to a first-place team finish.

WOMEN
Alex Gibson, Texas Tech, Jr., Lubbock, Texas
Gibson notched the first win of her career at the Heather Farr/CU Memorial in Erie, Colo. She shot a 5-under-par score of 213 and was one of only five players to shoot an under-par round. Gibson shot par or under all three rounds while leading Texas Tech to the team title against competition that included Colorado, Nebraska, SMU and Minnesota.

Madison Pressel, Texas, Fr., Boca Raton, Fla.
In her third career collegiate tournament, Pressel fired a school single-round record of 65 (6-under-par) on the first day of the Stanford Intercollegiate, breaking the previous record of 67 held by three other Longhorns. She finished tied for 17th out of 80 competitors with a final score of 215 and the team finished fourth. Pressel has led UT on the individual leaderboard in each of its first three tournaments.
