Sooners Prepared for Seventh Straight Super Regional

Oklahoma is representing the Big 12 for the seventh straight season in the Super Regionals. The Sooners take on Louisiana-Lafayette in Norman May 26-27. Following a perfect 3-0 weekend at the Norman Regional, the Sooners have now won 16 straight Regional games and 21 of 22 such contests dating back to 2010. During the 16-game win streak, OU has outscored opponents 177-41. All-time, Oklahoma is 61-17 in Regional action. The seven straight trips to the Supers for OU is the second longest active streak in the country behind Alabama (12). It is Oklahoma's 10th Super Regional appearance overall. The Ragin' Cajuns lead the all-time series vs. the Sooners 15-11, though OU is 3-0 in Norman and 3-1 in postseason play. Most recently, the teams met four times during the 2014 season as ULL won two of three games during a regular season series in Lafayette, but the Sooners won 3-1 during the 2014 WCWS. Following the Regional Tournaments, the Big 12 hold a 178-89 (.667) record versus other conferences this season. The Big 12 went 9-6 during Regionals, including winning records from both Oklahoma schools (OU 3-0, OSU 3-2). Oklahoma has not lost a game in almost two months and is currently riding a 25-game winning streak that dates back to its sole conference loss of the season vs. Kansas on April 2. The mark is four games behind its all-time record of 29 set in 2005. OU has also won 32 of its past 33 contests. The Sooners are 8-4 this season vs. top 25 opponents, including a 2-0 mark vs. the SEC (wins over No. 6 Alabama & No. 10 Tennessee) who had nine teams ranked at the end of the regular season. The Big 12 as a whole, holds a 14-12 mark over the Southeastern Conference. The league went 4-3 vs. the SEC in the Regionals (OU 2-0, OSU 1-1, UT 1-1).

The Oklahoma Sooners are headed to the Super Regionals for the seventh straight season as they knocked off Ole Miss Sunday, 3-0 to complete yet another undefeated regional campaign. OU will be back home next weekend playing Louisiana-Lafayette for the right to advance to the Women's College World Series. Dates and times are still to be determined. Baylor and Oklahoma State saw their seasons come to an end on Sunday, suffering losses in the Regional Final to Oregon and Georgia, respectively. The Bears lost 8-1 to the Ducks, and the Cowgirls defeated the Bulldogs 5-3 to force a winner-take-all matchup, before ultimately falling to UGA 6-0 in the rubber match. Big 12 Places Three in Regional Finals

Baylor, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have all advanced to the Regional final portion of NCAA softball postseason action, including Oklahoma who is just one win from clinching a Super Regional appearance, yet again. The Sooners dominated Ole Miss in their lone contest of Saturday, scoring seven runs in the second inning on their way to a 9-1, five inning run-rule victory. The win marked 24 in a row for OU, the second most consecutive wins in school history. The all-time program record is 29 straight wins, set in 2005 from February 11 to March 18. The win over the Rebels also extended OU's winning streak in Regional play. The Sooners have won 15 straight Regional games and 20 of 21 such contests since 2010. During the 15-game win streak, OU has outscored opponents 174-41. All-time, Oklahoma is 60-17 in Regional action. Oklahoma will now face Ole Miss again on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. CT with a chance to advance to the Super Regionals with a victory. If OU were to lose, the two teams would meet again in a winner-take-all battle. Baylor, who entered Saturday 1-0 in the Regional, lost its opening game of the day to Regional host Oregon 6-0, but rebounded with an 11-2 win over Long Beach State to set up a rematch with Oregon on Sunday. The Bears have to beat the Ducks two times in a row to win the Region and advance to the Super Regionals. The Cowgirls began the day by winning an elimination game against Maine 10-1 after a loss Friday to Northwestern, 2-1. The win over Maine set up a rematch with NU for a chance to face Regional host, Georgia, in the final. The contest with Northwestern was tight the whole game, reaching extra innings knotted at 2-2. In the top of the ninth, Cowgirl sophomore Randee O'Donnell executed an RBI-squeeze bunt to help secure the dramatic win against the Wildcats and advance to the final. Baylor, Oklahoma State and Texas join Oklahoma in the postseason field, which gets underway on Friday, May 20. OU is hosting and as a national seed for the 10th straight year. BU heads to Eugene, Oregon, OSU to Athens, Georgia and UT to Lafayette, Louisiana for regional play. Fresh off claiming seven All-Big 12 honors and five individual awards this week, the No. 3 ranked Oklahoma Sooners are taking home the final weekly awards of the 2016 season, as well. Sooner infielder Sydney Romero and pitcher Paige Parker are the weekly winners thanks to strong performances in the Bedlam matchup with Oklahoma State this past weekend. Romero, a freshman, picks up her first career weekly honor and Parker her 12th. It is the fifth of the season for Parker and her first back-to-back award win of the year. Romero earned yearly honors as a Second Team All-Big 12 and an All-Freshman Team member, and Parker took home Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-Big 12 recognition for the second consecutive season.

In the NCAA rankings: Oklahoma is currently first nationally in batting average (.359) fielding percentage (.984). Kansas sits third in the country in fielding at .980. Individually, Oklahoma's Caleigh Clifton is seventh in the country in on-base percentage (.577).
