The NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Committee announced that the University of Texas has been selected as one of four regional sites for the 2010 Division I Women's Volleyball Championship.

No. 1 Penn State rallied for a 3-2 victory (22-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21, 15-13) over No. 2 Texas to win the NCAA Championship Saturday evening at the St. Pete Times Forum.

Oklahoma's Kelly Files has been named National Assistant Coach of the Year by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. This is the first year for the award, which will be presented annually to the nation's top assistant.

Texas will make its first NCAA Championship final appearance since 1995. The Longhorns will play two-time defending national champion Penn State on Saturday at 7 p.m. CST on ESPN2.

Three first-team selections headline the Big 12's nine American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America honors. Ashley Mass from Iowa State and Texas' Ashley Engle and Destinee Hooker were recognized as members of the first team.

Big 12 champion Texas has advanced to the national semifinal round for the second year in a row, after defeating 10th-seeded Nebraska, 3-1, in the Omaha Regional final. The league has had at least one final four representative in four of the last five seasons.

Four of the five Big 12 teams still alive in the NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship will play in the four-team Omaha Regional starting Friday.

Big 12 Volleyball Coach of the Year Christy Johnson-Lynch (Iowa State) has been named the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Central Region Coach of the Year. Hannah Werth (Nebraska) collected another Freshman of the Year accolade after being selected by the Big 12 and AVCA Central Region in 2009.
