Kansas City, Mo. - No. 4 seed Oklahoma has advanced to the semifinals of the Big 12 Championship for the second time in the last three seasons after a 2-0 victory over No. 5 seed Iowa State at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City.
After a scoreless first half, the Sooners got on the scoreboard via a penalty kick from Liz Keester in the 73rd minute. It was her ninth goal of the season. Shortly thereafter, teammate Madison Saliba converted on an assist from Rachel Ressler to give OU a 2-0 advantage. It was Saliba's fifth score of the 2016 campaign.
Sooner goalkeeper Kassidie Stade notched her eighth shutout of the year and the 19th of her career. Both totals are school records. ISU keeper Lindsey Hendon had four saves for the Cyclones.
Oklahoma will face West Virginia in the Big 12 Championship semifinals on Friday at approximately 5:30 pm ET / 4:30 pm CT. The last meeting between the two teams at the event was in the 2014 Big 12 title contest.
