Kansas City, Mo. - No. 7 seed TCU became the third team to advance to the semifinals at the Big 12 Soccer Championship after posting a 1-0 victory over No. 2 seed Kansas at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City.
The teams endured a lightning delay coming out of halftime, but once the second half commenced, TCU got on the board quickly. Junior Allison Ganter netted her seventh goal of the year in the 51st minute. Senior Michelle Prokof and sophomore Karitas Tomasdottir were credited with assists on the score.
The win marks the first for the Horned Frogs at the event since 2012 - a year TCU advanced to the title match as the No. 8 seed. It marks the second time in the past three seasons that the No. 2 seed in the Championship has lost in the quarterfinals.
The Frogs limited KU to just two shots on goal and three corners, as freshman goalkeeper Katie Lund gathered the two saves while playing all 90 minutes. Junior Maddie Dobyns had three saves for the Jayhawks.
