OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Junior Brooke McCarty posted a team-high 13 points as No. 12/14 Texas Women's Basketball (23-7) defeated Oklahoma State (17-13) in the quarterfinals of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship inside Chesapeake Energy Arena on Saturday evening, 71-60.
No. 2 seed Texas leads the all-time series over No. 7 seed Oklahoma State, 32-15, including an even 1-1 mark in the history of the Big 12 tournament.
"W had really good contributions from our bench down the line," said Texas head coach Karen Aston. "We're excited to still be playing."
McCarty's 13 points were complimented by four rebounds. Sophomore Lashann Higgs followed suit with 12 points and four boards of her own. Sophomore Jordan Hosey and senior Kelsey Lang rounded out the Horns in the double figures with 10 points apiece, marking a season-high for Hosey and a perfect 5-5 from the field for Lang.
As a team, Texas shot 44.9 percent (31-69) from the field while holding Oklahoma State to a 38.6 shooting percentage (22-57). The Longhorns outrebounded the Cowgirls, 42-31.
