With the 2009 season fast approaching, this is a chance to get you ready for some football. Over the next five weeks, we'll be counting down the top 10 and working up to No. 1, which will be unveiled on July 23.
2008 was aguably the greatest football season in Big 12 history. Each week brought high-scoring games with record-setting quarterbacks at seemingly every school. Oklahoma's Sam Bradford became the second sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy while Texas quarterback Colt McCoy finished second in the Heisman voting.
The Big 12 had the three finalists for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award and the Fred Biletnikoff Award (wide receivers) - an uprecedented achievement. On six of seven Saturdays, from mid-October to late November, a Big 12 game was featured on ABC's prime-time national telecast. Oklahoma reached the national championship game for the fourth time in eight seasons.
