Men's Long Jump
FRANKIE WRIGHT--OKLAHOMA
"It feels really great to be a Big 12 Champion. I can't really explain it, but it's great. I wanted to be able to do this for my team, because we need the points. I'm glad this is a personal championship, but I'm really in this for a team championship."
Men's Heptathlon
DONOVAN KILMARTIN--TEXAS
"The Big 12 record isn't that important. I had the record beforehand and it would have been nice to come in and improve a little bit on it, but the reason I didn't go after it too hard is because in about 20 minutes I have to go vault. If I had really chased it down in the last 300 meters, I think I could have got it. But at the same time, I would have been giving up something to get something. I'll go over there and if I vault well, it was worth it. If I don't, then I should have chased it down."
"Normally it is pretty hard to go into nationals ranked number one and do well. It's a tough position to be in because you always have a target on your back. It's definitely nice, but at the same time it has its pit falls."
"It feels really good. I've got three Big 12 Championships so far, and it's always nice to come to the Big 12 and compete against some of the best competitors in the nation. I feel this year has a very strong showing. We had a lot of guys score high. It is nice to compete against good guys."
Women's 60-Meter Hurdles
REBECCA WILLIAMS--IOWA STATE
"Since last year and the ankle surgery, I pulled my hamstring twice, so honestly I feel very blessed. I want to thank my coaches. We have such a young team I really feel like they help me stay grounded. This was my goal, my goal for the year was to break the indoor record and finish top three in the conference. To win it was a little beyond my expectations and it's been an amazing year."
Men's 60-Meter Hurdles
MARLON ODOM--TEXAS TECH
"It feels great to win here in Ames. This is my first indoor championship. It means a lot to me. To have my two teammates with me in the final felt great too. They're young; a freshman and a sophomore, so it means a lot to share this with them."
Women's Triple Jump
YASMINE REGIS--TEXAS TECH
"It feels really good. It was a really hard competition today, so it was nice to get some points for my team. There were three others in the finals and we all placed. It was really great. We had a freshman that really boosted us up."
Women's 60-meter dash
ALEXANDRIA ANDERSON--TEXAS
"It feels good to win. Knowing that I got third last year, that was something that I kept in the back of my mind. I am glad that I could be a champion and get 10 points for my team. It feels wonderful and it is just the beginning, I still have other events so I am looking forward to a good day. I take Longhorn pride to the heart and I knew that Marsha Hooker won last year and I am so happy that I could keep the legacy going."
Women's Shot Put
MICHELLE CARTER--TEXAS
"It was a great meet with a lot of great competition, so it was a great win. I really enjoyed being able to compete with my teammate in the finals."
Men's High Jump
ANDRA MANSON--TEXAS
"I was disappointed with my performance but it's not about me, it's about the team and scoring points and helping the team win the indoor championships. I have won four straight indoor championships. I feel great about going into the NCAAs, once again it's not about me, it's about the team."
Men's 60-Meter Dash
MARCUS PUGH--OKLAHOMA
"It feels great to win. It's been a long time coming. Last year I didn't even make the finals and freshman year I was supposed to go third and I ended up going sixth, so this is a great feeling. Last year I battled a lot of injuries in the indoor season, so this year I just had to come out stronger. My coach and I hit the weight room hard this summer to get stronger, to get my start down and that was about it. That was our race. We knew if we got the start time down that there would be a lot of people that wouldn't be able to run with us."
Women's Mile Run
SALLY KIPYEGO--TEXAS TECH
"It feels amazing to win the Big 12 Championship. It's overwhelming to win this race in a very competitive conference and it's a good feeling. I will not be running the one-mile run at the NCAAs, I will be running the 3000 and 5000. I would like to run the mile at National's to see what kind of potential that I have. I feel like I have a real good chance at winning the 3000 and 5000 at the NCAAs."
Men's Mile Run
LEONEL MANZANO--TEXAS
"It feels great. I just wanted to come out here and compete and do the best for my team. I am definitely looking forward to the NCAAs, you know I haven't a national championship indoors yet and that is definitely one of my goals. I hope to run my personal record there."
Women's 600-yard Run
MORGAN BONDS--KANSAS STATE
"I haven't competed in Ames for awhile, since I was a freshman, so this is great. It is really nice, I was glad to be out there. This is definitely a relief, and I'm looking forward to start to run 800s again."
Men's 600-yard Run
TEVAN EVERETT--KANSAS STATE
"I felt good out there. A lot of the same guys from last year were in the race and I knew I just had to go out and run comfortable. I just ran my race and it led me to victory. It all came down to the last kick and I came out with the win."
Women's 400-Meter Dash
CLORA WILLIAMS - TEXAS A&M
"It feels pretty great. I am not in the best of health, but I train hard everyday and came here just to do my best and my hard work really paid off. I am looking forward to the NCAAs and I will just try to do my best because only the best is good enough."
Men's 400-Meter Dash
REGGIE WITHERSPOON--BAYLOR
"I felt great out there. It's hard because I'm competing to be the best on the team and in the Big 12. It's just a tough competition, but it felt good to repeat."
Men's 1000-Meter Run
ANTHONY CHIULLI - COLORADO
"Obviously it feels good, I got runner-up last year, and it's my last year so I wanted to win. It feels really good to set the stadium record. I felt really strong today. I ran out front today and that was the game plan and I never looked back. I have had a rough winter but I finished strong today."
Women's 1000-Meter Run
NICHOLE JONES--BAYLOR
"I am ecstatic right now because even though I've run well this season, there has always been one little thing here and there that hasn't been going right. This is the first race where everything just kind of fell into place. I am even more honored as a freshman because I'm not going to write myself off before I run the race and get intimidated by older people."
Women's 800-Meter run
TRISA NICKOLEY--MISSOURI
"I was happy with my overall performance today. I came out and felt pretty good. There are a lot of good runners out there so they pushed me. I have never actually made it individually to the NCAAs before and hopefully I make it this year and become an All-American."
Men's 800-Meter Run
JACOB HERNANDEZ--UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS
"I'm just happy to be able to run because I was out for a whole year. It feels great to be in the atmosphere because this is my first big-time championship season. In high school there are always a couple guys who are pretty good, but here everyone is good. The competition and atmosphere are different. Getting mentally prepared for things is a whole different level."
Women's 200-Meter Dash
SIMONE FACEY--TEXAS A&M
"It is really a good feeling, my first Big 12 championship, to come over here with these great athletes. This was my personal best to be in the top six, I'm really proud of myself and how I executed."
Men's 200-Meter Dash
REGGIE WITHERSPOON--BAYLOR
"I didn't know what to expect because I had just ran the 400 meters. My legs were a little tired, but I came out and gave what I got and I was able to win."
Men's Pole Vault
JORDAN SCOTT--KANSAS
"This is amazing. The competition was so intense. There were ten over 5'7" and it came down to the last bar. I was pumped for it and in my head I was just thinking 'I got this, I got this.'"
Men's Shotput
KEVIN BOOKOUT--OKLAHOMA
"It feels good, this is my first time ever to win the Big 12 Championships. I had a good throw, but I know there is more to come in the next couple of weeks. Becoming All-American is one of my goals, and to just keep improving and see what happens."
Men's Triple Jump
ZUHEIR SHARIF--TEXAS A&M
"I just told myself to stay confident and just give your competition the respect that they deserve. You just never know, anyone of these guys could have gotten first or second. I just kept my composure and stayed confident. Making the NCAAs as a freshman I just have to remain calm and confident. I want to have fun and do my best and learn from my experience."
Women's High Jump
DESTINEE HOOKER--UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS
"This is a blessing. I hurt my ankle earlier and have had food poisoning last week into this week, so being here and winning is just a blessing."
Women's 3,000-meter Run
SALLY KIPYEGO--TEXAS TECH
"This is great, amazing. I know this is a competing conference and just winning a title in the Big 12 is a great honor. I am surprised myself for breaking records in the meet as well. I am grateful and I'm glad that I am able to run all those races."
Men's 3,000-meter Run
COLBY WISSEL--KANSAS
"With 300 (meters) to go I felt pretty good. I was able to make a big move and was fortunate to make it across the finish line first. I'm glad I was able to help my team out."
COACHES QUOTES
Bubba Thornton - Texas Men's Head Coach
On Being the Big 12 Co-Champions
"I am incredibly proud of this group of guys. I consider it one of the greatest teams that Texas has had in its storied history. We competed against another great university (Nebraska) who has a very storied history itself. Obviously you would like to have an all out win but I am very proud of our overall performance."
Gary Pepin - Nebraska Men's Head Coach
On Being the Big 12 Co-Champions
"Were extremely excited about it. We are very proud of our kids and we thought it was a very competitive meet. The Big 12 is absolutely one of finest conferences in the nation. We felt like Iowa State University did a great job of hosting the meet and were proud to be a part of it."
Pat Henry - Texas A&M Women's Head Coach
"We came to this competition with some things in mind that we felt like we were capable of doing. Whether we could win a championship or not was another story. For the most part we did everything we were capable of doing and as a result we won today. The Big 12 Conference is as good as it gets. I was in the SEC for 17 years which is also very good, but the Big 12 is getting better over time and this was a great Championship."
