Three Athletes Honored as Big 12 Cross Country Runners of the Week

Shadrack Songok (Texas A&M) was named Big 12 Runner of the Week on the men’s side, while Lillian Badaru (Texas Tech) and Beverly Ramos (Kansas State) shared the award for the women. This is the second weekly honor for both Songok and Ramos this season, while Badaru achieved her first career accolade.

Shadrack Songok, Texas A&M, Sr., Kabiyet, Kenya/Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
Songok placed second at the Notre Dame Invitational with a time of 23:33. He maintained the lead over the top five runners for the entire 8K, narrowly missing the top spot near the finish line. Texas A&M competed against six nationally ranked teams over the weekend, finishing third overall ahead of five of those ranked opponents.

Lillian Badaru, Texas Tech, Jr., Arua, Uganda/South Plains
Junior-transfer Badaru had her second top-five finish of the season. She finished in fourth place competing at the Notre Dame Invitational with a time of 16:39. Badaru ran the 5K race among a field of top competitors, which included two All-Americans, and helped her No. 21-ranked team to a 12th place finish.

Beverly Ramos, Kansas State, Jr., Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico/Universidad de Puerto Rico
Ramos won her third consecutive individual title this season for the Wildcats while competing at Oklahoma State’s Cowboy Jamboree. Clocking a time of 20:30, she set a new career best in the 6K and broke the course record by 32 seconds. Her efforts aided K-State to a fifth place overall finish among the 25-team field.
