In his last game, Texas A&M quarterback Jerrod Johnson passed for 342 yards and four touchdowns against Big 12 champion Texas. The Aggies are fifth naitonally in total offense, averaging 465 yards per game. … The Bulldogs have taken the pressure off senior quarterback Joe Cox (22 touchdown passes, 14 interceptions) by emphasizing the running game. Running backs Caleb King and Washaun Ealey have shared the load. Georgia’s offensive line has done a good job at pass protection but Cox is mistake-prone when pressured. … Georgia defensive coordinator Willie Martinez, along with two of his defensive assistants, were dismissed after the regular season; none will coach in the bowl game. … In five games played away from Kyle Field, the Aggies allowed an average of 48 points. … Both teams have dogs as mascots – Reveille for A&M and UGA for Georgia. Sadly, UGA VII died recently and won’t be replaced until next season. … Georgia opened the season with a 24-10 loss at Oklahoma State.

History lessons
Texas A&M has a 13-17 bowl record. The last time the Aggies played in the Independence Bowl, the lost a 43-41 overtime game to Mississippi State in a game played on New Year’s Eve in a snow storm. Georgia has a 25-16-3 bowl record. The teams have met once in a bowl game; the Aggies prevailed 40-20 in the 1950 Presidential Bowl.
