Kim Jasmer (Missouri), Jaele Patrick (Texas A&M), Jimmy Feigen and Matt Cooper (Texas) have been named Big 12 Swimmers and Divers of the Week for the final week of the season. It is the first Conference honor for Feigen and Jasmer, third for Patrick and sixth for Cooper.
Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Jimmy Feigen, Texas, So., San Antonio, Texas
Feigen took first place in two events against No. 3 Arizona and swept the 50 and 100 freestyle in back-to-back meets (No. 19 A&M, No. 23 SMU). His anchor time in the 200 free relay against Arizona was the fastest split in the race (19.57).
Men’s Diver of the Week
Matt Cooper, Texas, Jr., Bethesda, Md.
Cooper tallied three victories in meets against Arizona and SMU. He swept the competition as UT defeated SMU and his two second place finishes helped the Longhorns to a 141-100 win over Texas A&M.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Kim Jasmer, Missouri, Sr., North Bend, Ore.
Jasmer helped the Tigers sweep Notre Dame, Iowa and Denver in the Shamrock Invitational and take a win against Nebraska on Senior Day. She was a part of six victories in two weeks, including a season-best time in the 200 IM. Jasmer now has the sixth fastest time in that event in school history (2:03.76).
Women’s Diver of the Week
Jaele Patrick, Texas A&M, Jr., Lilydale, Australia
Patrick swept the one- and three-meter dives while breaking her own school record on both boards. She had already broken her three-meter record (357.90) after only five dives and finished with a score of 412.35. Patrick’s score of 360.67 on the one-meter broke the pool record of 351.15 set by 2009 NCAA Champion Anastasia Pozdniakova.
