Trio of Signal Callers Named Manning Award Finalists

Robert Griffin III (Baylor), Landry Jones (Oklahoma) and Brandon Weeden (Oklahoma State) have been named three of 10 finalists for the 2011 Manning Award.

Through 11 games, Griffin III has passed for a school-record 3,678 yards and 34 touchdowns, while throwing only five interceptions. The junior has completed 72.6 percent of his passes. RG3 has also rushed for 612 yards and seven touchdowns, giving him 41 total touchdowns on the year. He is one of four players in FBS history with more than 9,000 passing yards and 2,000 rushing yards in his career.

Jones has thrown for 4,052 yards and 28 touchdowns this season. He ranks second in the nation with 323.5 passing yards per game. The junior quarterback has moved from third to first on the school's career passing yards this year alone. Jones owns OU records with 21 career 300-yard games and nine 400-yard games.

Weeden leads the league with 4,111 passing yards. The senior has amassed 34 touchdowns and ranks second nationally with 32.27 completions per game. The Edmond, Okla.-native ranks among the top eight passers nationally in total offense per game (fourth - 365.1 ypg), points responsible for per game (sixth - 18.91 ppg) and pass efficiency (eighth - 162.2 rating).

In the seven years of the award, the Big 12 has claimed two winners, Texas' Vince Young in 2006 and Colt McCoy in 2010.

The Manning Award was created in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that takes the candidates' bowl performances into consideration in its balloting.

The winner will be announced Jan. 18, after all bowl games have been played.
