Senior forward Jamar Samuels (Kansas State) and freshman guard Myck Kabongo (Texas) have earned the latest Phillips 66 Big 12 Player and Rookie of the Week awards for games of Nov. 28 - Dec. 4 in voting by a panel of media covering the Conference. It is the first career weekly honor for both student-athletes.

PHILLIPS 66 BIG 12 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jamar Samuels, Kansas State, Sr., F, 6-7, 230, Washington, D.C./The Patterson School [N.C.]
Samuels averaged 13.5 points in leading Kansas State to wins over George Washington (69-56) and at Virginia Tech (69-61). The senior forward shot 64.7 percent from the field in two outings and 50 percent from 3-point range, while averaging 12.0 rebounds. He posted back-to-back double-doubles for the first time in his career, beginning with 10 point and 10 boards versus the Colonials. Playing before family and friends in his first road game of the season, Samuels then had a game-high 17 points and career-tying 14 boards as KSU recorded a big road victory against the Hokies. He leads the Wildcats in both scoring (13.0 ppg) and rebounding (9.0) in 2011-12.

PHILLIPS 66 BIG 12 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Myck Kabongo, Texas, Fr., G, 6-1, 169, Toronto, Ontario, Canada/St. Benedict's Prep [N.J.]
Kabongo averaged 14.5 points, 7.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds during Texas' victories over North Texas (73-57) and at UCLA (69-59). The freshman guard converted 9-of-15 (.600) field goals for the week, including 3-of-5 (.600) from 3-point range. He also knocked down 8-of-10 (.800) free throws with two steals. Kabongo had a 15-to-6 assist-to-turnover ratio in his two contests and has not had more than three miscues in his last four outings. He posted a team-best 16 points with seven assists in the win over UNT, followed by 13 points with eight assists as the Longhorns defeated the Bruins in Los Angeles. Kabongo leads the Big 12 in assists (5.9) in 2011-12 and ranks second on his squad in steals (11) and fourth in scoring (10.1 ppg).
