Big 12 Athlete of the Year candidates will be highlighted each day through July 20. Fans who follow the Big 12 Conference on Facebook and twitter will then be able to vote for their male and female choices from July 20-24. Fan voting will be considered in the final tally for selecting this prestigious award.

This afternoon's featured candidates are Texas Tech's Gonzalo Escobar and Gabby Dominguez.

Gonzalo Escobar; Men's Tennis Senior; Manta, Ecuador ♦  Winningest singles player in program history (99 singles wins) ♦  Winningest doubles player in program history (82 wins) ♦  First player in school history to advance to NCAA Sweet 16 in singles. ♦  First player in school history to advance as part of a doubles team to the NCAA Finals (lost to Ohio State) ♦  ITA Singles and Doubles All-American	Gabby Dominguez; Women's Golf Junior; Chilton, Texas ♦  Honorable Mention All-American by the NGCA and GolfWeek. First Tech women's golfer since 1996 to earn these honors. ♦  Tied for 8th at the NCAA Championships with teammate Kim Kaufman - highest finish in program history. ♦  Finished with a 72.8 stroke average, nearly two strokes lower than her previous school record. ♦  All-Big 12 selection, Tech's first since 2000. ♦  Qualified for the Women's U.S. Open, July 5-8 and also played in the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links.
