The Big 12 is 22-2 in non-conference
games and in those victories are outscoring the opponent by an average score of
48.3 to 13.9
Three Big 12 quarterbacks have yet to
throw an interception - TCU's Casey Pachall, Texas' David Ash and West
Virginia's Geno Smith. They have combined to complete 154 of 186 passes (82.7
percent) for 1,973 yards and 21 touchdowns in seven total games.
In NCAA statistics ...
The Big 12 has five of the top six and
six of the top nine quarterbacks ranked in passing efficiency.
The Big 12 has 5 of the top eight teams
in scoring. Only one other conference (SEC) has two teams in the top 10.
The Big 12 has four of the top eight
teams in total offense. Only one other conference (Pac-12) has two teams in the
top 10.
The Big 12 has three teams in the top 10
in total defense. The SEC and the ACC each have two in the top 10.
Oklahoma State is No. 4 in passing
offense and No. 6 in rushing offense. The Cowboys are the only team in the
country in the top 10 in both categories.
Texas Tech is No. 2 in total defense and
No. 6 in total offense. The Red Raiders are the only team in the country in the
top 10 in both categories.

Tech and Texas are the top three teams in NCAA stats in third-down efficiency.
Kansas State is No. 7 and West Virginia is No. 9.
Baylor
(2-0; defeated Sam Houston State 48-23; at Louisiana-Monroe Friday)
Quarterback Nick Florence had career bests for total rushing yards
(80) and longest run (60).
Aaron Jones became
Baylor's career leading scorer. He has 230 points, surpassing Alfred Anderson's
220.
Tight end Jordan Najvar has
two receptions this season, both for touchdowns.
Since Phil Bennett took over as defensive coordinator
last season, Baylor is 10-0 when forcing two or more turnovers. The Bears
forced four turnovers Saturday.
Baylor has the nation's second-longest
winning streak (eight), behind TCU (10).
Baylor has scored 30-plus
points in eight consecutive games, tied for the fourth-longest active streak
nationally. Also, the Bears have also scored over 40 points in six consecutive
games.
Iowa
State (3-0; defeated Western Illinois 37-3; vs. Texas Tech Sept. 29)
Receiver
Chris Young matched a career high with seven receptions.
Aaron Horne had a career-best 48-yard
punt return.
Jerome Tiller had career highs in
receptions (four) and receiving yards (41).
Kirby Van Der Kamp has 19 punts this
season, 14 of which have been inside the opponent's 20-yard line. The Cyclones
have yet to allow any yardage on punt returns.
Paul Rhoads (21-20) is the first Iowa
State coach with a winning record after 41 games since Clay Stapleton was 24-17
from 1958 to 1962.
Iowa State has held consecutive
opponents without a touchdown for the first time since the 1964 finale (0-0 at
Arizona) and 1965 opener (21-0 vs. Drake).
Iowa State has started 3-0 in
consecutive seasons for the sixth time in school history and the first time
since 2000-01.
The attendance of 55,783 was the
fourth-highest in Jack Trice Stadium history and the eighth consecutive home
crowd of 50,000 or more.
Kansas
(1-2, 0-1; lost to TCU 20-6; at Northern Illinois Saturday)
Sophomore Tony Pierson's 26-yard reception in the second quarter was his
first catch of the season and is also the longest of his career.
Sophomore Andrew Turzilli and
junior Chris Omigie each made the first receptions of their careers.
Junior Ron Doherty's 37-yard field
goal in the first quarter matched a career best.
Kansas has forced 12 turnovers through
three games, including four against TCU. Last season the Jayhawks had 18
turnovers all season.
Kansas
State (3-0; defeated North Texas 35-21; at Oklahoma Saturday)
Sophomore wide receiver/kick returner Tyler Lockett returned his third career
kickoff for a touchdown. He needs two more to equal Brandon Banks' school
career record of five.
Junior wide receiver Tramaine Thompson had
five catches for a career-high 102 yards and two touchdowns - his first game
with more than one TD catch.
Senior linebacker Arthur Brown missed
one series with a leg injury but finished with a career high 13 tackles.
Kansas State had not trailed for 131
minutes this season until North Texas took a 7-0 lead with four minutes left in
the first quarter. The Wildcats trailed for just 13 seconds as Tyler Lockett
returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown.
Since 1990, Kansas State has 83 non-offensive
touchdowns, which is tied with Virginia Tech for most in the nation over that
time.
Kansas State blocked a field goal in the
first half, this sixth blocked kick by the team since the start of last season.
The Wildcats went undefeated in
non-conference play for the third-straight season and the 14th time under Bill
Snyder.
Over the last 13 regular season games,
Kansas State is 60-of-67 in the red zone with 50 touchdowns.
Oklahoma
(2-0; idle; vs. Kansas State Saturday)
Under
Bob Stoops, Oklahoma is 14-4 in regular season games that follow a bye week.
During Bob Stoops' tenure, the Sooners
are 13-0 in Big 12 home openers and have won those games by the average score
of 39.4-16.8.
Oklahoma State (2-1;
defeated Louisiana-Lafayette 65-24; vs. Texas Sept. 29)
Redshirt freshman J.W. Walsh replaced
starting quarterback Wes Lunt, who was injured on the Cowboys' first series, and
finished 21-of-30 through the air for 347 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed
for 73 yards. His 420 yards was the ninth-best in school history.
Wes Lunt threw for 436
yards against Arizona. Along with Walsh's 347 yards Saturday, it's the first
time in school history two quarterbacks have thrown for 300 or more yards.
Sophomore Josh Stewart
had a career-high 104 yards receiving and tied his career high with nine
receptions.
Mike Gundy has 61
victories as the Cowboys' coach and is just two victories from surpassing Pat
Jones, the winningest coach in school history.
Over the last three
years, Oklahoma State has scored 60 or more points seven times and 50 or more
points 13 times.
Oklahoma State set a
single-game record with 742 yards of total offense vs. Louisiana, surpassing
the previous record of 725 vs. Baylor in 2010. The Cowboys also ran a
single-game record 96 plays and totaled a school record 39 first downs.
Oklahoma State has 17
scoring drives of less than two minutes this season.
TCU
(2-0, 1-0; defeated Kansas 20-6; vs. Virginia Saturday)
Junior quarterback Casey Pachall completed his first five passes to set a TCU
record with 16 consecutive completions. The streak dated back to his final two
pass attempts in the 2011 Poinsettia Bowl.
Sophomore receiver Brandon Carter had
career highs for receptions (eight) and receiving yards (141).
Redshirt freshman receiver LaDarius
Brown made his statistical debut with five receptions for 70 yards.
Punter Ethan Perry and defensive
tackle Terrell Lathan became the 14th and 15th freshmen to see action for
TCU this season.
TCU won its 10th consecutive
game and 25th consecutive conference game. Both are the top streaks
in the country.
Texas
(3-0; defeated Ole Miss 66-31; at Oklahoma State Sept. 29)
Quarterback David Ash had a career-high in pass yards (326) and
touchdowns (4). He has 96 consecutive pass attempts (dating back to last
season) without an interception.
Wide receiver Marquise
Goodwin had a 69-yard touchdown run, the first of his career and the longest by
a UT player since a 75-yarder by Jamaal Charles in 2007.
Wide receiver Mike
Davis had a career-high 124 yards receiving on five catches.
Texas posted 300 yards both rushing
(350) and passing (326) in a road game for the first time in school history.
Texas has started 3-0
for the sixth straight season.
Texas was 7-of-12 on
third downs against Ole Miss. For the season, the Longhorns are third
nationally in third-down efficiency (60.4 percent) 26-of-43.
Texas
Tech (3-0; defeated New Mexico 49-14; at Iowa State Sept. 29)
Seth
Doege had a career-high six touchdown passes.
Doege has 12 touchdown passes, tops in
the NCAA. Last season, Baylor Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III had 13 TD
passes through three games.
Sophomore Jace Amaro caught two
touchdown passes, his first game with multiple scoring receptions.
Texas Tech has had more than 10 players catch
at least one pass in all three games.
Texas Tech ranks in the Top 25
nationally in 12 of 17 team statistical categories. The Red Raiders are the
only team in the country in the top 10 in both total defense (No. 2) and total
offense (No. 6).
Texas Tech's 325 rushing yards was the
most for the Red Raiders since 1998 when they gained 324 yards against UTEP.
Texas Tech has allowed one rushing
touchdown in three games. Last season the Red Raiders allowed 33 rushing
touchdowns in 12 games.
The attendance of 58,955 was the
fourth-largest crowd in school history.
West
Virginia (2-0; defeated James Madison 42-12; vs. Maryland Saturday)
Quarterback Geno Smith became the school's career passing leader with 8,191
yards.
Receiver Stedman Bailey set a school
record with 13 receptions.
Through two games receiver Stedman
Bailey has 22 receptions for 277 yards and five touchdowns. Last season,
Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon won the Biletnikoff Award and had 20 catches
for 272 yards and two touchdowns through two games.
Receiver Tavon Austin had 11 receptions.
It's the first time since 1981 that West Virginia had two receivers finish in
double figures in receptions.
West Virginia has scored 181 points in
its last three games, the best three-game stretch in school history.
Since 2000, West Virginia is 77-3 when
scoring 30 or more points in a contest.
