The All-Big 12 Conference football teams and individual award winners have been announced. Selections are made by the league's 10 head coaches, who are not permitted to vote for their own players.
Big 12 Honors Notebook:
♦ Trevone Boykin is TCU's first Offensive Player of the Year award winner and it marks the fourth-consecutive year a quarterback has won the award. In 19 seasons, a QB has been honored 15 times, including co-winners in 1999.
♦ Paul Dawson is TCU's second-straight Defensive Player of the Year honoree. Last year, Jason Verrett shared the award with Texas' Jackson Jeffcoat. Dawson is the 10th linebacker to be recognized.
♦ Tyreek Hill is the second Oklahoma State player (Adarius Bowman, 2006) to earn Offensive Newcomer of the Year.
♦ Shaq Riddick is West Virginia's third individual award winner since becoming a Big 12 member in 2012.
♦ Gary Patterson was recognized as Chuck Neinas Coach of the Year in his third year in the Big 12.
♦ Samaje Perine is the third Oklahoma running back (Adrian Peterson, 2004 and De'Mond Parker, 1996) to be picked Offensive Freshman of the Year.
♦ Kamari Cotton-Moya is the second Iowa State player (Jason Berryman, 2003) to receive Defensive Freshman of the Year.
♦ Tyler Lockett picked up his second-consecutive honor as Special Teams Player of the Year and is the second Kansas State wide receiver to be selected (Brandon Banks, 2009).
♦ Baylor has received Offensive Lineman of the Year honors for the third-straight year (Cyril Richardson, 2012 and 2013) while Kansas State picked up its first award. Co-winners were also named in 2007.
♦ Emmanuel Ogbah is the first Oklahoma State player to be named Defensive Lineman of the Year.
♦ Oklahoma has won the most individual awards in the 19-year history of the Big 12 with 29. Kansas State is second (27), followed by Texas (24), Oklahoma State (17), Baylor (10), Iowa State (9), Texas Tech (8), Kansas (7), TCU (5) and West Virginia (3).
