An extended agreement and a first-time location highlight the announcement of Big 12 championship sites in men's golf and soccer.
In 2018 and 2019, the Big 12 Soccer Championship will continue in Kansas City at Children's Mercy Victory Field. The 2018 event will feature a new format as the quarterfinal matches will be played on the Sunday immediately following the conclusion of the regular season. Semifinals will then take place the next Friday, with the title match the following Sunday.
The Big 12 has also announced that The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va., will host the men's golf championship in 2019. The Greenbrier is a National Historic Landmark and world-class resort that has been welcoming guests since 1778. Its golf facility features five different courses and its Old White TPC Course hosts The Greenbrier Classic, a PGA TOUR FedExCup event, each summer.
The postseason soccer events in ‘18 and ‘19 will mark the sixth and seventh straight years that championship will be held in Kansas City. It was first held there in 2013 after 16 consecutive seasons in San Antonio, Texas. The only other city to host the soccer championship is St. Louis, which did so in the first year of league play in 1996.
The men's golf championship has previously been played at some of the nation's top venues - Whispering Pines Golf Club (Trinity, Texas), Southern Hills Country Club (Tulsa, Okla.) and Prairie Dunes Country Club (Hutchinson, Kan.). The 2019 Big 12 Men's Golf Championship will mark the second time the conference has held one of its postseason events in the state of West Virginia (Gymnastics, 2014).
