Gross Wins National Championship

Big 12 affiliate member South Dakota State’s Seth Gross won the NCAA national championship in the 133-pound weight class. It is the school’s first wrestling title at the Division I level, first as a member of the Big 12 Conference, and the first overall since 2001. Gross defeated Stevan Micic of Michigan in a 13-8 decision.

 

South Dakota State had the top team finish from Big 12 schools at 12th place. Oklahoma State, which led the Big 12 with four All-Americans, finished 13th. Wyoming’s Bryce Meredith finished second in the 141 lb. weight class, helping the Cowboys to an 18th place finish. UNI rounded out Big 12 presence in the top-25, with a 23rd place finish.
