Upsets were the name of the game in session 1, No. 5 Baylor toppled No. 4 Oklahoma and No. 8 Kansas took down top-seeded Texas at the 2018 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City. Baylor's Cody Bradford registered 11 strikeouts in the No. 5-seed Bears' 4-0 shutout of No. 4-seed Oklahoma to open the championship. Kansas' Jackson Goddard gave up just one run on two hits in 6.2 innings pitched, as the Jayhawks won 3-2 over the Longhorns.

OKLAHOMA CITY – No. 4-seeded Baylor’s Cody Bradford dominated the mound for the Bears with a career-high 11 strikeouts, shutting out No. 4-seed Oklahoma 4-0, to open the 2018 Philips 66 Big 12 Championship at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
Bradford (7-5) allowed just four hits in 7.2 innings pitched to improve to 7-5. His 11 strikeouts were the most for a Big 12 pitcher since West Virginia’s Ross Vance hurled 12 K’s in 2016.
A pair of RBI singles from junior Richard Cunningham and sophomore Shea Langeliers game the Bears an early 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Junior Cole Haring scored the final two runs of the game. Advancing home on a wild pitch in the eighth, before hitting a home run bomb to left field in the ninth inning.
Oklahoma freshman left-handed pitcher Levi Prater recorded 1.2 scoreless innings, marking the 21st time this season. Sooner starter Jake Irvin fell to 6-2 after giving up two unearned runs on five hits in five innings pitched.
Baylor (33-19) advances to play No. 8-seed Kansas at 4 p.m. on Thursday, while Oklahoma (34-22) will face No. 1 Texas at 9 a.m.

OKLAHOMA CITY - An outstanding pitching performance from starter Jackson Goddard combined with Devin Foyle’s bomb in eighth propelled No. 8 Kansas to a 3-2 upset over regular-season champion Texas in the second game of the 2018 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
For a second consecutive year, the No. 8-seed defeated the top-seed. Last season, No. 8 Oklahoma State beat No. 1 Texas Tech. In 2015, No. 8 Baylor won over No. 1-seed TCU.
Kansas (27-28) collected the first two runs of the match-up in the top of the fourth. A double by sophomore Brendt Citta, scored Foyle who reached base on a walk. Citta then advanced to third on a groundout and was plated after a sacrifice fly to left field by freshman Skylar Messinger. Texas (37-19) responded in the bottom of the fifth as junior D.J. Petrinsky laced an RBI single, scoring junior Mason Hibbeler.
After two scoreless frames, Foyle advanced the score in the eighth inning, 3-1, after he unleashed on the first pitch and sent it over the left-field wall.
Texas attempted a rally in the bottom of the ninth as sophomore Ryan Reynold produced an RBI single, scoring Duke Elis.
Goddard (5-1) held the Longhorns to two hits, one run and tallied seven strikeouts, which is the most that he has recorded in his career when facing Texas. Junior Matteo Bocchi (3-1) earned his first loss this season, allowing two runs off of two hits and four walks.
Kansas is set to play No. 5 Baylor at 4 p.m. on Thursday, while Texas will face No. 4 Oklahoma tomorrow with the first pitch at 9 a.m.
