OKLAHOMA CITY- A six-run third inning solidified No. 5-seed Baylor’s 10-5 win over No. 8-seed Kansas in the division one winner’s bracket game of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
With the victory, the Bears will have an off day on Friday before facing the winner of the Kansas/Oklahoma elimination game on Saturday, May 26, at 9 a.m.
For the second time in this tournament, Baylor (34-19) racked up two runs in the first inning as sophomore Andy Thomas singled to left-center. Kansas (27-29) answered in the top of the second as sophomore Brendt Citta sprinted home on a groundout to even the contest.
In turn, the Bears attached two more runs on an error, and an RBI single to expand the lead 4-1 in the home half of the second. The Baylor bats ignited in the bottom of the third as three Bears sent two-run bombs all in left field. The two-run dingers came from junior Josh Bissonette, freshman Nick Loftin, and sophomore Shea Langeliers, respectively.
The Jayhawks (27-29) earned their final four runs in the top of the eighth as senior Tanner Gragg launched a two-run rocket over the left field wall cutting the gap 10-5.
Sophomore Hayden Kettler (8-4) added another mark to the win column holding the Jayhawks to one run on three hits in 7.0 innings of work for the Baylor triumph. KU’s Ryan Zeferjahn (8-5) is permitted six runs on five hits and a homer.
Baylor (34-19) will play the winner of the elimination game between No. 4 Oklahoma and No. 8 Kansas on Saturday at 9 a.m.

OKLAHOMA CITY- A breakout four-run seventh inning propelled No. 6 TCU past No. 7 West Virginia, 8-1, on day two of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
With the victory, the Horned Frogs (32-22) earn an off day on Friday and will face the winner of the Texas Tech-West Virginia elimination game on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CT.
TCU scored the first run of the game off a sac fly in the bottom of the first. However, sophomore Marques Inman darted home on a groundout to tie the game in the top of the fourth.
A.J. Balta hit a sacrifice fly to send freshman Adam Oviedo home, giving the Horned Frogs a 2-1 edge. A pair of back-to-back two RBI doubles from Balta and senior Michael Landestoy gave the Horned Frogs a five-run cushion. Balta would finish with four RBIs on the day. Two more Horned Frogs reached home in the eighth to push the TCU lead 8-1.
Junior Sean Wymer (6-3) garnered the victory, holding the Mountaineer lineup to one run with four strikeouts.
Granting two runs on four hits and three walks, sophomore Isaiah Kearns fell to 3-4 on the year.
TCU will play the winner of the elimination game between West Virginia and Texas Tech on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CT.
