Texas Tech’s Divine Oduduru and Kansas State’s Ranae McKenzie garnered Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors. This week’s award marks the first all-time for both runners.
The reigning 200-meter NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Champion, Oduduru ran the two fastest times in the world this season in the 100-meter dash (9.94 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (19.76 seconds). The Nigerian sprinter became the first Red Raider to run a sub-10 second 100-meter dash.
On the women’s side, McKenzie’s time of 56.11 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles event last week ranks as the No. 1 time in the NCAA this season, topping the second-best time by over a second. The 2018 Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field 400-meter hurdles individual champion completed the event as the top collegian at the Michael Johnson Invitational, as her time currently ranks No. 11 in the world.
