Oklahoma’s Blake Griffin and Willie Warren have been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for week of Nov. 24-30 in voting by a panel of media covering the conference. It is the sixth career weekly honor for Griffin as he becomes the second athlete in league history to win player recognition in three consecutive weeks. Warren wins his second straight accolade.

Griffin led the Sooners to the championship of the NIT Season Tipoff with two wins last week. The sophomore forward averaged 25.0 points and 18.0 rebounds in the games in New York, shooting 59.3 percent from the field. He also connected on 18-of-27 (.667) free throws while adding three steals and two blocks. Griffin had his fifth and sixth double-doubles of the season en route to being named the Most Outstanding Player of the event. He is the third player in OU history to post six straight double-doubles. Griffin joins Andre Emmett of Texas Tech as the only players to win three straight Big 12 Player of the Week honors. Emmett won three consecutive during the 2003-04 campaign.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Willie Warren, Oklahoma, G, Fr., 6-4, 207, Fort Worth, Texas/North Crowley
Warren earns his second rookie honor following a career-high 22 points in the final of the NIT Season Tipoff against Purdue. He had three assists and three steals in the contest, making 11-of-13 (.846) from the foul line. In two games, he averaged 14.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists. The freshman guard is second on the team with 14.8 points per game and ranks third with 14 assists and nine steals.
