Sherron Collins (Kansas) and Willie Warren (Oklahoma) have been chosen the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player and Rookie of the Week for Dec. 29 - Jan. 4 in voting by a panel of media covering the conference.  It is the second career player accolade for Collins and the fourth rookie honor for Warren this season.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Collins wins the player award after turning in his best performance of the season in the Jayhawks’ 92-85 win over No. 14/18 Tennessee.  The junior guard led KU against the Vols, scoring a career-high 26 points.  He also had nine assists and five rebounds.  In two victories last week, he averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 assists and 2.5 boards.  He also shot 47.4 percent from the field and 70.6 percent from the free throw line.  Collins has been Kansas’ leading scorer in 10 of 13 games and has posted 19 or more points six times.   He previously won Big 12 player recognition on March 9, 2008.  

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Willie Warren, Oklahoma, G, Fr., 6-4, 207, Fort Worth, Texas/North Crowley
Warren captures top rookie for the second straight time after averaging 24.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in a 1-1 week for the Sooners.  The freshman guard scored a career-high 35 points for OU in a 96-88 loss at Arkansas.  It was his second consecutive game with 30 points or more.  He followed that with 14 points versus Coppin State, with seven assists and just one turnover.  He shot 57.1 percent from the floor in the two outings, including 9-of-15 (.600) from 3-point range.  Over the last seven games, Warren is averaging 19.1 points and 3.9 assists.  The four rookie honors is tied with four other players for the fourth-most in Big 12 history.
