    ASSISTANT DIRECTOR – MEDIA SERVICES

    Overview:
    The Assistant Director - Media Services will work under the direction of the Director – Media Services to assist in execution of media operations, promotion and support for all of the Conference's sponsored sports and championship events. As part of the media services team, the Assistant Director will assure timely production of game results, record keeping, statistics compilation, and news releases. Will support media operations for all Big 12 championships, media days, and other special events; and work closely with digital media team in promotion of the Conference and its member institutions across all Big 12 online, mobile, social and traditional communications platforms. The successful candidate will report to the Director – Media Services. Duties include:

    • Assisting media services director in the execution of the Big 12 media services operation.
    • Collaborating with the media services and digital services teams to ensure timely, comprehensive and engaging promotion and reporting of Big 12 Conference results, statistics, news and information; and its dissemination across all Conference online, mobile, social and traditional communications platforms.
    • Coordinating the production of online record books, media notes, news releases, statistics compilations ant team-generated feature content.
    • Establishing and maintaining positive relations with media through strong interpersonal communication skills.
    • Contributing regular written content to Big 12 communications platforms to supplement multimedia assets.
    • Assisting in the media operations planning and staffing for all Big 12 championships, media days, and special events.
    • Working in conjunction with Conference staff, member schools and media, as needed in the promotion of the Conference, its member institutions' sports programs, coaches and student-athletes.
    • Contributing to communications activities and team, as necessary.
    • Assisting in maintaining the Big 12 archive library and its website.
    • Additional duties, as assigned.

    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's Degree required. Applicants should have 2 – 4 years of relevant experience; and a strong personal working knowledge of athletics communications. Proven strategic planning experience is necessary, as are:

    • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and StatCrew statistical software.
    • Knowledge of various online and social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine, as well as HTML coding).
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Willingness to stay up-to-date on current and emerging communication technologies and social media.

    An aptitude and passion for college sports is preferred as a successful candidate must be able to provide media support and reporting services across all Big 12 sponsored sports. At least three years of professional experience in sports information, journalism and reporting and/or prior experience in collegiate athletics is desired.

    Applicants must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment is required. Candidates will have excellent problem-solving and time management skills, in addition to creative thinking abilities; and will be expected to take direction and initiative, acting in accordance with the core values of the Big 12 Conference.

    DIGITAL MEDIA CORRESPONDENT

    Overview:
    The Digital Media Correspondent will serve as an on-air correspondent for stories posted on Big 12 online, mobile, social and traditional communications platforms. As part of the team coordinating and managing the digital production efforts of the Big 12, Correspondent will plan, shoot, write, edit, report and syndicate multimedia digital and social content across all Big 12 communications platforms. The individual will implement an aggressive content development plan incorporating the Conference and its members. The successful candidate will report to the Director – Digital Content & Strategy. Duties include:

    • Planning, shooting, writing, editing, reporting and syndicating compelling multimedia digital and social content across all Big 12 online, mobile, social and traditional communications platforms.
    • Cultivating relationships and actively engaging a broad range of key Big 12 insiders, including coaches, administrators, current and former student athletes.
    • Establishing working relationships with member schools' athletics communications and video staffs, as well as with television partners.
    • Using effective information gathering and storytelling methods and proven content development techniques to create daily stories and longer-range features using appropriate clarity and detail to appeal to a range of audience interests and understanding.
    • Generating content daily, including producing original content as well as packaging highlights from Big 12 member schools and various media partners to issue across appropriate Big 12 communications platforms.
    • Contributing regular written content to Big 12 communications platforms to supplement multimedia assets.
    • Building and maintaining an ongoing editorial content calendar to effectively plan a content strategy incorporating appropriate degrees of Conference and member school content.
    • Working closely with the Media Services team to ensure timely, comprehensive and engaging content is published to all digital, mobile and social platforms.
    • Keeping informed of emerging new media tools, platforms, techniques and strategies to utilize for Big 12, as appropriate to engage audiences.
    • Contributing to communications activities and team, as necessary.
    • Additional duties, as assigned.

    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's Degree required. Applicants should have 2 – 4 years of relevant on-air experience and a strong working knowledge of the video editing and production processes, including proven skills using video editing and graphic editing software (Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office). In addition, candidates must be:

    • Proficient with online and social media channels.
    • A strong oral and written communicator.
    • Well-versed in broadband delivery systems.
    • Willing to stay up-to-date on current and emerging technologies for video production and social media.

    An aptitude and passion for college sports is preferred as a successful candidate must be able to provide unique insight and access into Big 12 programs. At least two years of professional experience in sports journalism and reporting and/or prior experience in collegiate athletics is desired.

    Applicants must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and manage a high volume of assignments is required. Candidates will have excellent organizational, communication and time management skills, and will be expected to take direction and initiative, acting in accordance with the core values of the Big 12 Conference.

    MULTIMEDIA DESIGN COORDINATOR

    Overview:
    The Multimedia Design Coordinator will work under the direction of the Director – Digital Content & Strategy to design, produce and distribute creative multimedia materials to support communications and bring stories to life. Coordinator will produce timely, creative and engaging multimedia content on a day-to-day basis to distribute across all Big 12 online, mobile, social and traditional communications platforms. Also responsible for supporting the maintenance of the Big 12 content library and Big 12 website. The successful candidate will report to the Director – Digital Content & Strategy. Duties include:

    • Executing designs for web, interactive media and multimedia projects, including websites, social media, emails, banner ads, presentations, sales materials and videos, as well as corporate marketing and promotional materials.
    • Creating visually compelling multimedia content using motion, animation, video, sound, UI user interface design and/or UX user experience and distributing across all Big 12 communications platforms.
    • Supporting all phases of multimedia work: preproduction; story boarding; design; production; post production; and distribution.
    • Supporting Director – Digital Content & Strategy to create designs that meet the needs of internal and external communications and business partners.
    • Working on a wide range of design projects including branding, print collateral, email marketing, event materials, social media, web, multimedia and digital initiatives, among others.
    • Conceptualizing new ideas to create original multimedia content and re-packaging multimedia content highlights from Big 12 member schools and media partners.
    • Serving as the primary multimedia design contact while working with Conference staff, member schools and media partners, as needed.
    • Supporting the maintenance of the Big 12 content library and Big 12 website.
    • Contributing to communications activities and team, as necessary.

    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's Degree required. Applicants should have 2 – 4 years of relevant multimedia content development experience and proven ability to ensure the quality of work throughout all phases of every project. Candidates also should have a strong working knowledge of multimedia design and production processes, including proven skills using web, multimedia, photography and video editing and graphic editing software, including:

    • Adobe Creative, including proficiency in Illustrator, lnDesign, Photoshop, After Effects, Acrobat Pro
    • Proficiency in HTML, HTML 5 and CSS
    • Working experience with Exact Target a plus

    An aptitude and passion for college sports is preferred as a successful candidate must be able to produce multimedia designs that reflect a unique insight and access into Big 12 programs. Previous professional experience in sports-related multimedia design and production is desired.

    • Managing the media services team to produce online record books, media notes, news releases, statistics compilation, and team-generated feature content.

    • Contributing regular written content to Big 12 communications platforms to supplement multimedia assets.

    Bachelor's Degree required. Applicants should have 4 or more years of relevant team and people management experience; and a strong personal working knowledge of athletics communications. Proven strategic planning experience is necessary, as are:

    STUDENT-ATHLETE PROGRAMS ASSISTANT

    Available (tentative): July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2018

    Overview:
    The successful candidate will work with and report to the Assistant Commissioner- Governance and Academics. Primary Duties:

    • Serve as a secondary liaison to the:
      • Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee;
      • Conference Student-Athlete Representative to the Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee;
      • Conference Student-Athlete Representatives to Autonomy Governance;
      • Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Advisors of the Conference Member Institutions; and
      • NCAA staff members supporting the Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
    • Travel to institutional Student-Athlete Advisory Committee meetings throughout the academic year.
    • Plan and coordinate in-person meetings, teleconferences and programming of the Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
    • Assist with planning and coordinating in-person meetings and teleconferences of the institutional Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Advisors.
    • Update the Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee policies and procedures on an annual basis.
    • Assist with social media and technology initiatives of the Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
    • Work with the Conference communications and digital staff to highlight the accomplishments of Conference student-athletes.
    • Attend various Conference meetings to provide Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee updates.
    • Assist with other projects, as assigned by various Conference staff.
    • Represent the Conference at all national meetings/teleconferences regarding student-athlete success initiatives.
    • Serve as secondary liaison to the Dr. Prentice Gautt Student-Athlete Welfare Committee.
    • Support and assist with Conference governance initiatives and programming.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Commissioner and the Assistant Commissioner- Governance and Academics.
    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's Degree required. Former student-athlete and/or experience in a student-athlete advisory committee role (e.g., member or advisor), is preferred. Ability to work in a team setting. Ability to work independently and manage multiple issues in a time-sensitive setting. Experience in public speaking. Proficient in writing and computer skills. Social media proficiencies required. Candidate must be willing to travel for meetings. Experience in a campus athletics department, particularly a student-athlete support services office, is dsiered. Experience in a student-athlete advisory role, is preferred.

    Salary (tentative): $24,000 for 12 months.
