WILL HANCOCK COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT

Positions: Will Hancock Communications Assistant (2 positions)
Available: July 1, 2015 - June 30, 2016

Responsibilities:
The successful candidates will report to members of the communications staff. Duties include:

  1. Assisting in all aspects of communications for 23 Big 12 sports
  2. Serving as the primary media contact as well as a liaison to member schools communications staffs for several Olympic sports, including but not limited to, cross country/track & field, equestrian, golf, rowing, soccer, softball, gymnastics, swimming & diving, tennis and wrestling
  3. Contribute to social media strategy through management of the Conference’s official accounts by carrying out publicity on these platforms and participating in content planning and execution
  4. Maintain and develop various aspects of the Big 12 website at Big12sports.com
  5. Assisting with production/design of media guides, championship materials and social media content
  6. Distribution of announcements to local, regional and national media via digital platforms
  7. Travel to selected championships and media day sites
  8. Maintenance of historical and statistical files
  9. Interacting with member school administrators and coaches groups
  10. Assist with weekend duties for football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball as necessary
  11. Projects as assigned by members of the communications and digital media staff

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Applicants should have a strong knowledge of sports. Excellent journalistic writing and communication abilities with a knowledge of Associated Press style guidelines is expected. Experience/knowledge with website content management systems, social media, desktop publishing (Adobe Creative Suite 5.5) and graphic design is essential. Experience in a campus athletic department, particularly a communications or marketing office, is desired

Salary: $24,000 for 12 months.

DIGITAL MEDIA ASSISTANT

Available: July 1, 2015 - June 30, 2016

Overview:
The Digital Media Assistant is the primary producer of all content for the Big 12 Digital Network. This position works closely with the two Big 12 Digital Network correspondents to create unique and enjoyable content that tells the story about the league and its student-athletes. This person must be comfortable in front of the camera as well. A majority of the workload will be producing and writing video packages. Duties Include:

  1. Edit video elements using Adobe Premiere and Adobe Creative Cloud software.
  2. Establish working relationships with member schools' athletic video staffs, as well as with television partners.
  3. Film and produce highlight packages for various sports that can be distributed on multiple platforms.
  4. Continued development of The Big 12 Minute, the conference daily video magazine show.
  5. Maintain and develop various aspects of the Big 12 Digital Network platforms.
  6. Interview Big 12 coaches and student-athletes at media days and championships.
  7. Travel to championships and media day events throughout the season.
  8. Projects as assigned by other members of the communications staff.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required. Applicants should have a strong knowledge of sports with an emphasis in graphics, video production and understanding broadband delivery systems. Familiarity with Panasonic AG-AC160AP cameras and lighting set-up is preferred. Experience and knowledge of MAC OS, especially editing software (Adobe Creative Cloud) is needed. The candidate will need to be proficient in graphic editing programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects). Must be able to meet tight deadlines with quality professional work. Excellent writing and editing abilities, including a familiarity with Associated Press style guidelines, is helpful. The Conference is seeking an ambitious, forward-thinking personality who can assist in the continued growth of the Big 12 Digital Network.

Salary: $24,000 for 12 months.

West Virginia University - DIGITAL MEDIA MANAGER 

West Virginia University invites applications for the position of Digital Media Manager. This position will assist the Director of Digital Media in the oversight, production and management of content for West Virginia University's Department of Intercollegiate Athletics' multiple websites, micro websites, mobile and social media platforms and overall digital information strategies while also assisting the athletics' multimedia specialist, communications and marketing departments to create and develop promotional landing pages and contest forms. The position will serve as the daily manager of the official athletic website (www.wvusports.com) to post and direct story assignments while maintaining the efficiency, timeliness and effectiveness of the website and serve as an administrative and technical contact for the athletic department website and social domains. Providing guidance to all units in the athletic department and potential third parties to develop high quality, relevant content in a timely fashion is expected.

Bachelor's degree in computer science, marketing, journalism, communications, sport management, or a related field, is required. Two years previous experience in web development and maintenance for the daily operations of a website is also required.
