The Big 12 enters the week with four teams ranked in the top 25 of at least one of the four national polls. Texas and Texas A&M are listed in all four with the Aggies sitting in the top 10 in each, including a No. 6 ranking in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll. Baylor received its highest ranking of the season, checking in at No. 18 on the Collegiate Baseball poll.
Eight of the league's nine teams enter the week with a winning percentage, including five with marks of .600 or better.
After completing its second straight conference sweep, Baylor is off to its best start in Big 12 history with a perfect 6-0 record. The Bears have swept consecutive Big 12 series for the first time since April 2005.
The Bears host their third-straight conference series this weekend when Oklahoma State visits Waco. The three other league series on tap for the weekend are: Texas Tech at Kansas, Kansas State at Oklahoma and Missouri at Texas A&M. Texas will play a four-game series with 2011 College World Series participant California in Round Rock over the weekend.
Texas' Mark Payton has reached base in all 22 of the Longhorns' games this season. Evan Mistich (Oklahoma) is the only other player to reach base in 20 or more games this season (21).
The Big 12 has a team ranked in the top 5 nationally in strikeouts per nine innings (first - Oklahoma State), doubles (second - Texas Tech), triples (third - Texas), stolen bases (fifth - Texas A&M) and walks (fifth - Kansas State).
Individually, Jamodrick McGruder (Texas Tech) ranks in the top 10 of five different categories, including triples (third), walks (eighth), stolen bases (eighth), runs (ninth) and on-base percentage (10th). Trent Blank (Baylor) is tied for the national lead with six wins and Andrew Heaney (Oklahoma State) ranks second with 65 strikeouts. Heaney is also one of two pitchers to have thrown three complete games this season.
Corey Knebel (Texas) moved into the Big 12 top 10 career chart in saves last week. The sophomore's 24 saves ties J. Brent Cox (Texas) and Nick Cassavechia (Baylor) for 10th on the list.
