Baylor Duo Sweeps Big 12 Runner of the Week Honors
September 11, 2012

Baylor freshman JR Hardy and sophomore Rachel Johnson have earned Big 12 Runner of the Week honors. It is the second consecutive award for Johnson who also took home recognition last week. Hardy was tabbed for the first time.

JR Hardy, Baylor, Fr., Austin, Texas
Hardy led the Baylor contingent of runners with a sixth-place at the UTA Season Opener in a time of 15:22.1. The freshman helped BU to a second-place finish at the event.

Rachel Johnson, Baylor, So., Plano, Texas
Despite battling a cold during her run, Johnson took medalist honors for the second straight week to help the Baylor women to the team title at the UTA Season Opener. The sophomore turned in a time of 10:50.2 on the two-mile course to finish 0.6 seconds ahead of the second-place runner. Johnson, who won last week's Bear Twilight Invitational, competed against runners from UTA, Texas State and the region's eighth-ranked team, SMU.
