The Big 12 placed three teams into the 2012 NCAA Soccer Championship. Texas Tech and West Virginia will host first round action while third-seeded Baylor will travel to Tempe, Ariz., to face Arizona State.
Baylor earned the league's automatic NCAA bid after capturing its first Big 12 Soccer Championship title. The Bears, ranked ninth in the latest RPI, downed No. 8 seed TCU 4-1 in the championship game last Sunday at Blossom Soccer Stadium in San Antonio, Texas.
The Big 12 is 59-26-10 against non-conference opponents this season, including records of 7-2-1 against Conference USA opponents, 6-0 against the Missouri Valley, 5-0 versus the Big Sky and 4-1 against the Big West.
BU leads the nation in goals-against average (.474) and is sixth in won-lost-tied percentage (.864). The Bears have posted a league-high 13 shutouts this season.
Baylor still has the league's most productive offense, averaging 6.36 points and 2.36 goals per game off of 22.09 shots per game. Texas Tech is second in all offensive categories.
The Big 12 has had at least one team ranked in the top 25 in all of the season's 13 weeks and has had multiple teams ranked in the same week 11 times. Six teams have received votes at some point this season.
