Texas Sweeps Big 12 Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards

Four student-athletes from Texas received Big 12 swimming and diving weekly honors for competition through Sunday, Nov. 4. Kip Darmody was honored with the men's swimming award and Will Chandler received the diving accolade. On the women's side, Kaitlin Pawlowicz earned swimmer of the week, while Maren Taylor garnered the diver award. This is the first career recognition for Chandler, Darmody and Pawlowicz and the third for Taylor.

Men's Swimmer of the Week
Kip Darmody, Texas, So., Charlotte, N.C.
Darmody posted a pair of top-three finishes in Texas' double dual meet against Indiana and Michigan. In the 100 and 200 backstroke, Darmody defeated Indiana's Eric Ress, a former NCAA runner-up in both the 100 and 200 backstroke events. Darmody won the 200 back against Indiana and Michigan.

Women's Swimmers of the Week
Kaitlin Pawlowicz, Texas, So., Vienna, Va.
Pawlowicz won seven of her nine events in four meets the last two weekends, and helped Texas to victories in three of the four meets. She led off with wins in the 200 butterfly and the 400 IM in a home double dual against Indiana and Michigan. The Virginian followed that effort by winning five-of-six events against No. 3 California and No. 5 Stanford. Pawlowicz took the 1000 free and 200 butterfly against the defending NCAA champion Golden Bears before helping Texas win at No. 5 Stanford the following day by sweeping all three of her events.

Men's Diver of the Week
Will Chandler, Texas, So., Waco, Texas
Chandler claimed two-of-three events in the Longhorns' double dual against Indiana and Michigan. His highest score of the meet came on the three-meter dive, where he posted a score of 371.10.

Women's Diver of the Week
Maren Taylor, Texas, Jr., Arlington, Va.
Taylor won five of her six events over the last two weekends in meets against Indiana, Michigan, California and Stanford. Taylor helped Texas defeat Indiana and Michigan with a sweep of the one-meter and three-meter diving events. Taylor went on to sweep the two diving events at No. 3 California, and her win in the one-meter event at Stanford proved to be a crucial win in UT's three-point road victory over the Cardinal.
