The Big 12 is the only Division I league that is undefeated (11-0) after the opening weekend of games. In fact, the Big 12 is the lone undefeated league (21-0) in women's and men's basketball combined.

Seventy percent of Big 12 squads are ranked or receiving votes. No. 1 Baylor continues as the unanimous top-ranked squad. No. 11 Oklahoma, No. 14. West Virginia, No. 19 Texas and No. 22 Oklahoma State all moved up in the AP ratings with Texas jumping from receiving votes into the top 25.  Kansas is the first team among those receiving votes, nine points out of the top 25, while Iowa State is third.

The Big 12's five ranked teams are tied for the most nationally and the Big 12 is the only league with fifty percent of its membership ranked.

The Big 12 has been ranked No. 1 in the coaches poll 33 weeks and in the AP poll 30 weeks in Conference history.

Five Conference players posted a double-double over the weekend with Nneka Enempkali (Texas) recording two.

No. 1 Baylor and No. 22 Oklahoma State extended their win streaks from last season with the Lady Bears at 41-straight while the Cowgirls have won seven consecutive.

The Big 12 went 2-0 on opening weekend against other BCS conferences. Texas upset No. 14/13 St. John's from the Big East while Texas Tech was victorious at the Pac-12's Arizona State. The Big 12 has posted the top record of the BCS leagues against each other the last two seasons.

The Conference has five games scheduled against BCS competition in Week 2, including two top 5 matchups as No. 1 Baylor hosts No. 6 Kentucky and plays No. 4 Stanford in Hawaii.

Five Big 12 women's basketball players were named to the John R. Wooden Award Women's Preseason Top 30 list, highlighted by 2012 winner Brittney Griner (Baylor). Other Big 12 representatives are Odyssey Sims (Baylor), Carolyn Davis and Angel Goodrich (Kansas), along with Chassidy Fussell (Texas).
